Fees
My standard fees are £40 per hour pro rata, plus expenses.
There is a minimum charge of £40 for a single look-up or record retrieval.
For more open-ended projects, such as researching an individual ancestor, tracing a lineage, or solving a particular genealogy problem, fees are tailored to suit each assignment. A budget limit for the first piece of research is agreed, and a deposit is normally requested in advance.
Fees cover the cost of
Civil registration records (£11.00, £7.00 or £2.50 from the GRO, according to type), post-1858 probate records, document copying, photography permits, printing and postage are all extras, charged at cost.
Travel within the Greater London area is not charged. Other travel expenses may be charged at a reduced rate if they can be spread between clients.
